Investing in Kent County, Michigan Families Affected by COVID-19

To date, more than 4,700 individuals and families have received $500 in emergency cash relief from the Kent County Relief Fund. As of Monday, April 27, the fund has given away all of its available resources. All new applicants will be placed on a waiting list and notified if additional funds become available. Please note, completing the waiting list form does not guarantee you will receive relief funds.
The COVID-19 crisis has been devastating for thousands of Kent County, Michigan workers who have lost their jobs and rely on a regular paycheck to afford necessities like shelter, food, transportation, baby products, and medicine.
To help, local donors and community-based nonprofits partnered with the Family Independence Initiative and the Stand Together Foundation to create a short-term fund to provide immediate financial relief to neighbors and families who are struggling in Kent County, Michigan.

How does it work?
The Kent County Relief Fund is a short-term effort that provides $500 emergency cash relief to eligible individuals who live or work in Kent County and have lost their jobs or are experiencing significantly reduced hours of work due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Who is eligible for support?
Kent County residents experiencing increased financial difficulty due to COVID-19 who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for $500 in cash relief:
- Live or work in Kent County, Michigan, and 18 years of age or older
- Laid off or have experienced at least a 50 percent reduction in work hours since March 1, 2020
- Household income was less than or equal to $50,000 per year
